TODAY the call centre was so busy, actually quite surprising for a Sunday shift.
Every time one call ended, another came beeping straight through.
The environment was so loud as each and every one of us were crammed on to the same floor. Conversation filled the air around me.
At 11am, a chime rang repeatedly through the city to indicate the start of the two minute silence, to remember each and every single soul who fought for us, past and present. One by one the call centre grew quieter, until eventually silence filled the air and each one of us gazed down in a train of thought. The chime rang 11 times in total… Ding = 1, Ding = 2, Ding = 3… Each one felt like it was getting louder and louder.
When silence filled the air, goosebumps chilled every part of me, as it was a very special moment… How one group of society can come together and remember the fallen, in such a special way. Two minutes silently passed by… Tick tock, tick tock.
And then eventually the moment ended and noise filled the air surrounding me, as the call centre grew back to life.
Today my workplace touched me in an unimaginable way.
I guess all that’s left to say is – NEVER FORGET!
